What is a proctor?

For the Food Protection Manager exam, it is a legal requirement that somebody watches you take the exam, these people are called proctors. A proctor is an approved, neutral person who ensures the integrity of the environment, security of the exam, and to confirm the identity of the person taking the exam.

Below are the proctoring options available to you:

1. Remote Proctoring - Train & Test at Home - A $48 fee (this covers both exam attempts)

We are offering you the opportunity to take your exam remotely, meaning you can complete your training and exam at home.

You can schedule the exam for any time or any date, so it can be completed around your lifestyle

In order to take the online proctored exam you will need a computer with a camera and internet connection.

2. Internal Proctoring (Save on proctoring fees) - Only available to organizations certifying 5 or more people a year

If you want to certify several staff members then our internal proctoring may be the best option for you.

We can offer your company the ability to proctor exams for you and your staff members for no cost. You would simply take the training online, and then the proctor could sit down with you and proctor the exam. Becoming a proctor can take less than 15 minutes!

To use online proctoring, you must:

  • Have a webcam and microphone attached to your computer (all laptops have these installed as standard)
  • Have a private room to take the exam in. This could be a room in your house, office, or public space. It just means you need an area to take the exam where people will not be walking in and out.
  • Have a current, government-issued ID

You can complete the training on the above devices, but you will need a laptop to take the final exam.

The purpose of this ANSI Accredited Food Protection Manager Training is to provide managers the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to oversee safe storage, preparation and service food.

All learning is mapped against the 2017 FDA Food Code.

Video Learning is broken up into 23 chapters that last no longer than 20 minutes each. With it being 100% online, you can complete the training around your lifestyle.

Alaska state regulations require each food establishments to have at least one Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) on staff, however certain municipalities may have differing regulations.

Always Food Safe’s ANSI accredited exam will be accepted throughout Alaska* and will be valid for a total of 5 years.

With over 500 Health Inspections taking place in 2018 in Alaska, it’s important that your staff have the correct qualifications to satisfy the visiting Health Inspector.
