Nevada laws require there to be a Person in Charge at any food establishment at all times. In many counties, that person must have completed and passed a food safety training course accredited by the ANSI. All counties require persons in charge to be able to demonstrate knowledge of food safety regulations to a regulatory authority.
To be compliant with the counties that require a Food Protection Manager certification, a person in charge must have completed 8 hours of classroom training and have passed an exam. Online training is accepted by Nevada law but the examination must be proctored by an approved instructor. The certificate is valid for 5 years.
