State Regulations

At least one ANSI Certified Food Protection Manager must be on duty in any food establishment across the state of Alabama.

Always Food Safe’s Training and Exam is accepted throughout Alabama and will be valid for 5 years.

The Alabama Department of Health  requires Priority Category 3 and Category 4 type food establishment permit holder or their designee to have a valid certification from an accredited program issued within the previous five years or completion of an accredited program without certification within the previous 12 months.

The Alabama Public Health Department inspects each food establishment at least 3 times a year, so it is important that you and your staff have the correct qualifications and training in place.

In order to receive your Food Protection Manager certificate, you will need to complete the exam in a proctored environment.

What does a proctored exam mean?
