Here are some of the state regulations for the Montana Alcohol Certification: 

  • Training must be completed within 60 days of hire
  • 18 years of age is the minimum age to sell
  • 3 hours of training required
  • 80% is the minimum passing score on the final exam
  • There are unlimited exam retakes
  • Certification renewal is required every 3 years 
  • As part of Montana's specialized process; additional PPI is collected and audio cannot be skipped on the training.

The Montana alcohol server certification is valid for three years from the date of issue. To remain valid, servers must complete a new course and final exam to recertify before the expiration date.
